Hopefully proving that the words "Prequel Trilogy" don't automatically mean, "Oh dear god! Aaaargh! My eyes! They are bleeding! Aaaahhhhhhrghhh....," I now present to you the first in a trilogy that will show the journeys that various characters undertook to end up in Japan.
In Japan Origins: The Boys. Enjoy!

Well, folks. First of all, new story! Boy Scouts ½ in Japan, part 7 (by some schmuck known as yours truly) is now available for your reading enjoyment!
Second... I had quite a surprise e-mailed to me from Jason Bertovich today. That horseshit that was the subject of the last update? The long forgotten ill conceived attempt at a spin-off that was going to forever be on a cliff hanger? Yeah, well, here's some closure for you if you'd like it. (In all honesty, I rag on Outlast, but it is a fun little popcorn read, and a bit more to bring it to some resolution made me smile. Hopefully it does for you, too.) Finally... this one may only be of interest to anyone who may be a long time reader of Boy Scouts ½ (if any other then myself and Jason exist), or to the exceptionally bored and curious... but I dusted off one more piece of long forgotten material from the original Geocities version of the website... Accessible from the "History of Boy Scouts ½ on the Web" page (or, to make it easy for you, directly accessible by clicking here) an archive of Guestbook entries left by visitors to the website from 1998 - 2000. That's it for today, folks. But it is definitely a good chunk of stuff, so hopefully it will keep you all content for a wee bit. Share and enjoy! I am pleased to be able to present to you the first new story of 2014, Boy Scouts ½ in Japan, part 6: Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch!
It had previously been announced that this installment would be penned by the illustrious Hughes. Alas, due to understandable issues on his end, he was unable to find the time to complete it. So he delivered what he had so far to me (a decent amount, I assure you), and gave me his leave to complete it on my own. Further details can be found in the notes at the end of the story. Hopefully I shall be back with more updates soon! I know Jason has a few works close to completion, and I have a few I am working on as well. And, of course, who knows when the wonderful Ms. Martha Wadley may grace us with another squirrely adventure? Surprise! Have a Deathmatch!
Well, the first if you don't count, "The Worst Ranma ½ Fanfic Ever," ha ha.
Anyway, presented for your reading enjoyment is Boy Scouts ½ in Japan, part 5: An American Otaku in Akihabara, by yours truly. My recent visit to the land of Jason Bertovich along with the recent completion of the website restoration process inspired me, and thus the initial storyline of the "in Japan" series is finally completed. ('Twas a nice visit, and I look forward to reciprocating hosting duties someday... Jason can finally actually visit the Holyoke Mall!) On another note, for those who care about such things, I figured I should mention that I made a few adjustments to the Timeline page, specifically concerning Perspectives IX and X. Previously, I had placed them both after Boy Scouts ½, part 30. But then I realized that Perspectives IX had the Porters mailing out something to which they receive responses in Boy Scouts ½, part 24, thus placing Perspectives IX before the storyline which part 24 is a part of. Then I noticed the date on the invitation Jason receives in the beginning of Perspectives X was a late June date, which would place the event Jason was being invited to prior to Troop 192's summer camp excursion, and thus Perspectives X was moved earlier in the timeline to be before Boy Scouts ½, part 26. (Technically, Perspectives X begins right where IX ends, but there is a time jump in the story to the aforementioned event Jason was invited to, and that is where the meat of the story takes place, so I used that event as the anchor for placement on the timeline.) Hope you enjoy the new story! Talk to you again, soon! Three more stories restored for you!
Boy Scouts ½ in Japan, part 2: Welcome to Maison Ikkoku (by yours truly). Boy Scouts ½ in Japan, part 3: In Which Mike and Bill Play Magic, and Sarah Comes to a Terrible Realization (also by yours truly). And finally, Boy Scouts ½ in Japan, part 4: Things to Do in Tokyo When You’re Cursed, Curious, or Independently Wealthy (by Jason Bertovich). Enjoy the above three stories. Well, just one more pre-existing story to restore! What the hell... My original plans for the evening had included Perspectives X. Then I discovered I wouldn't quite be able to do that one this evening because of mitigating circumstances. However, I still felt I had one more story restoration in me this evening. Thus, Boy Scouts ½ in Japan, part 1: Strangers In a Strange Land is now restored for your reading enjoyment!
As a bonus treat, this is a Special Edition of the story, featuring a slight addition. Don't worry, I didn't go all George Lucas on y'all. Notes on this addition can be found at the end of the story, after the vintage post-story notes. |
